Martha receives two new certificates and 3 books to study for her high school exam

On Tuesday, June 26, Martha received next two certificates.
The ceremonial handing of the certificates to the women of Dochas Centre prison in Dublin, was held at the special ceremony at the gym.
Martha received thwo certificates: for the “leather” and for “art”.
She received one of them in front of everyone.
The second will be delivered via mail.
Martha holds total of 18 certificates.
Every woman was walking to get her certificates, and received applause from fellow inmates, and made a short speach.
Martha had spoken about the image she painted for exhibition against racism.
She described her painting (which was based on the “eye” with flags of different countries inside, in the eye) and her attitude.
She was talking about prison officers and women serving sentences.
Everyone needs to avoid all signs of inappropriate behavior.
Martha is certain that women serving sentences in Dochas Centre prison will get out of it with right approach to other people.
Martha herself will come back to Poland some time, and she will be avoiding any sign of discrimination.
She will also remember proper attitude of Irish women.
Martha’s speech was liked a lot, and it was rewarded with applause.
Later, at coffee and a cake, other fellow inmates congratulated Martha her speech.

On the same day, Martha received 3 books for the period of vacation.
It’s the first part of books, with which Martha has to get acquainted during her preparing for high school exams.
About one of the books Martha said, that it is very thick.

We congratulate receiving next certificates and proper attitude towards other people…
Is prison a good place for people like Martha?
Should such person be isolated from other people?

Martha receives next items – except the MP3 player

On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, Martha received next things from the reception of the prison.
Apparently the officer on duty finally deigned to find the time.
Martha received many of the remaining items.
Some of them were lying there for so long, that Martha doesn’t even remember who brought them for her.

She received all the cosmetics.
Cosmetics were held probably for the longest time.
On April 29, 2018, we stopped the counters regarding not giving Martha the cosmetics.
Only 6 cosmetics were handed to Martha then.
Our stopping of the counters was a bit “ahead”.

We wrote that day:
“The cosmetics given to Martha are those brought for her by her sister.
They were brought on December 8, 2017.
After 141 days of holding them, six of those cosmetics were handed to Martha.
141 days is 4 months and 21 days – 41 days more and it would be half a year.

On Wednesday, June 20, 2018 Martha received all of remaining cosmetics.
In total, most of the cosmetics spent 194 days in prison locker.
They were lying, or maybe “served” their time…
Martha could finally receive them…

Martha was happy about items given to her.
She didn’t check if the expiration date on the cosmetics she received.

Martha received everything…
Everything…
…except the MP# player brought for her…

We’re stopping another timer – Martha “accidentally” receives her e-cigarette

On Friday, June 25, 2018, near the end of the meeting, Mrs Governor Mary O’Connor asked Martha, what she needs.
Martha said, that she still didn’t receive the things, she is allowed to have.
Those things are in the prison reception since long ago.
Mrs Governor was very surprised.
After the meeting Mrs Governor went to the reception with Martha.
The officer on duty opened the locker and… Martha’s e-cigarette fell out of it.
The same, about which we wrote on April 6. The same, which the proson officers couldn’t find.
Now it fell out of the locker by itself.
There was no more excuse to not give it to Martha.

On April 6, we wrote on the subject:

“On March 8th, her friend brought her an e-cigarette. Bought especially for Martha. So she can quit smoking.
It still, until now, can not be found at prison reception.
Martha’s friend, who brought the e-cigarette to prison, already wanted to come to the prison, to encourage the officers to more perservering search.
Maybe they are overworked, or they have so many things, that it is difficult to find just one of them.”

As for the rest of things, the officer on duty said, that she is very busy right now, and that she will pass the remaining things to Martha later.
Mrs Governor comes personally with Martha, but the duty officer is busy (?!)
Martha is patiently waiting again.

We thank very much to Mrs Governor Mary O’Connor for her personal interest in things, that should be given to Martha earlier.

Martha waited for the e-cigarette for 99 days.

After receiving it, Martha turned it on, and… it appeared that it doesn’t work.
Recently Martha bought less things for her in prison store.
Despite so small resources she was able to save some money.
She asked the officer to buy her an e-cigarette, for about 50 euro.
Then there will be no problem with passing it to Martha.
No one will also pick on, if the officer will choose an e-cigarette with some charging tip…

There was so much waiting…

Annual meeting with Martha – Martha wants to pass the high school exam next year

On Friday, June 15, 2018, Was an annual meeting with MArtha.
Once a year there is a meeting with people sentenced to lifetime imprisonment.
The meeting is aimed at summarizing of what an inmate has achieved during the last year, and what she plans to do next year.
7 or 8 people was meeting with Martha.
The meeting lasted about half an hour.
Among others there was Mrs Governor Mary O’Connor, Mrs School Principal and Chaplain Sister Esther Murphy.
During the meeting Martha presented all certificates she received.
Total 18.
During two years of being in prison she passed almost all levels of English language.
Martha said, that she would like to pass her high school exams next year.
Due to that, on Tuesday, Martha was supposed to receive books, so she can study for the exams already.

During stay in prison, Martha learned English language to a large extent.
Oftenly she has no time on the given day to reply to the letters she’s receiving.
She says to the family, that she has lots of homework and she has to study.
She’s not always happy, that she is learning not the things she wants.

The family is glad that Martha is busy.
She’s taking every course available in prison.
She’s using the time somehow.
For now for the benefit of herself.
In future, she will probably share with others what she will learn…

In every place you can find yourself in future, it is worth to use your time wisely…

Martha is working in the library again.

Since Wendesday, June 13, 2018, Martha is working in the library again.
After five months break.
Speaking up for Martha’s work in the library in Dochas Centre prison in Dublin, brought positive results.
Many people demanded that.
Both people working in the prison and  cooperators as  co-inmates demanded this.
All these people noticed what kind of person Martha is: what is her character and how she is paying attention to entrusted duties.
In regards to such position of many people, the officer on duty, which earlier (on February 9, 2018) informed Martha that she is no longer working in the library, providing no reason for this, now she didn’t have any objections.
Martha receives the keys to the library without a problem again, and she is happy to work in the library.

We’re glad, that more and more people get to now what Martha really is.
In time, maybe those most reluctant will also will see it.
It’s impossible, that a person so helpful and thinking about other people, like Martha, harmed anyone consciously and deliberately.

How far away is the “virtual” or “press” image of Martha in Irish media, from real, true image of Martha.
Image not only in the opinion of the close ones and friends from Poland, but also between Irish prison officers, and Irish women serving sentences in Dochas Centre prison in Dublin in Ireland.
And Martha is just herself…
Martha is liked by others…
Helpful, kind, interested in others…

Due to raising funds, Martha’s family limits flights to Ireland

The most important activities of Martha’s family includes caring for Martha’s good mental condition, and the fight for restoring justice for Martha – for FREEDOM.
For these two years the family tried to balance those goals.

One of assumed actions was visiting Martha once a month.
Most often two people went from Poland to visit Martha.
Most often those were Martha’s sister and her mum.
Single person trips also occured, but also a three person ones.
Despite the adversities, most oftenly, someone from Poland, from the family, visited Martha.
Different obstacles didn’t led to change in visits.
During one of visits in Ireland, Martha’s sister broke a leg.
For seeing Martha she hopped on one leg, because there was no time for the hospital.
There was no time – it was a choice: seeing Martha or hospital.
After seeing was the second choice: hospital, or a flight to Poland.
Decision was simple: hopping on one leg to the visit with Martha, then on one leg to the airplane, and in Poland – directly from the plane to the hospital, and the leg in the cast – a fracture with displacement.
At least one planned flight to Martha was gone.
Martha’s mum, before one of planned flights to Martha also severely broke her leg.
For a time she couldn’t com to her daughter, then she came with a crutch.
Two weeks before planned flight, one person from the family got injured in a car accident (a hit in the car from the back by another car – the effect: the neck in cervical collar). For the time of visit, the collar was taken off, and left in Poland/
The family had overcome different obstacles, but someone regularly was visiting Martha.
Today the family gathers funds and it has to manage them accordingly.
Now, a great amount of funding is needed.
Great amount of funding to lead the legal fight for freedom for Martha to a happy ending.

Due to this the family made a difficult decision, to cut costly visits with Martha in Ireland.
The family wanted to make Martha a surprise, and come on her birthday.
Unfortunately it was decided to give up the plan.

Now the family conducts extensive consultations.
Until the end of June, the family must be sure about the next actions regarding Martha.
Then the flight to Ireland is planned and a meeting with Martha’s new attorney – Frank Gearty, with whom the cooperation is coming very well.

We thank very much to TRUE FRIENDS of Martha from Ireland, who try, if possible, to visit Martha in prison twice a week.

Will Marta, in order to reduce the costs incurred by a family from Poland, decide to serve her sentence in Poland?
Will she want to change very good conditions in Dochas Centre prison in Dublin to worse conditions in prison in Poland, but closer to the family?
…time will tell…
