Martha’s tough night – “don’tgivadamnaoboutism” of officers or intentional humiliation?

Things that happen around Martha often make us think: should we write about it or not?
There are different situations. Wo are  more or less appalled by them.
Additionaly our sites are followed by one of Irish newspapers, which cites our posts soaking them with Irish poison. After those articles, Martha gets some complications as a bonus.
Should we stop writing?
Will Martha be better in prison thanks to this? Rather not.

But can we be silent?

The subject is sensitive, and also moving.
On Friday Martha asked for menstrual pads and toilet paper (she must ask for menstrual pads and toilet paper, and then they are brought).
She asked, and waited. She was promised they will be brought.
Later all inmates were closed. Nothing was brought to Martha.

How was Martha’s night?
It was humiliating.
It would seem that Ireland is quite civilized country in Europe. It would seem.
Is it really?
The country is as civilized as civilized are it’s citizens.

Marthahad to survive the whole night… with a towel. No pads and toilet paper.
It’s a small consolation, that the towel was large.
Only the next day toilet paper was brought to Martha.
In the morning, one of the inmates gave Marthe her own pads. We thank her very much.
Besides toilet paper nothing was brought to Martha by the officers.

Should such situations happen in a civilized country?

IRELAND!
If you can’t provide some social minimum to a Polish citizen – set her FREE!

Martha still doesn’t get the things she was promised – we will put counters on our sites

Martha is still waiting for delivering the things brought for her to prison by her close ones.
The number of things is growing.

On March 8th, her friend brought her an e-cigarette. Bought especially for Martha. So she can quit smoking.
It still, until now, can not be found at prison reception.
Martha’s friend, who brought the e-cigarette to prison, already wanted to come to the prison, to encourage the officers to more perservering search.
Maybe they are overworked, or they have so many things, that it is difficult to find just one of them.

On March 23 a friend of Martha brought her na MP3 player. Martha still didn’t receive it.

The things that Martha waits for for the longest time, are cosmetics. Her sister brought them twice. She brought the on December 8th, 2017, and  on February 3rd, 2018 (it’s good that they have long expiration date, and Martha has large patience treshold).
According to information from the meeting with Acting Chief Officer Kelleher, every person with lifetime sentences were supposed to receive them on April 1st.
And they received them. Everyone…
Except Martha.

Due to such situation we are planning introduction of counters on our sites. How many days Martha didn’t get the her due things.
For all of them Martha has permissions.

One of the counters will also count, for how many days the paintings, which belong to Martha’s sister, are held in prison.

Additional counter will be one counting days of Martha being imprisoned.
In the opinion of many people – INNOCENTLY.

Better friday for Martha – the sister will come as planned earlier

Friday was already better for Martha.
Two of her friends visited her. They assessed, that Martha is in better shape then lately.

6 letters was delivered to Martha that day. She received letters from Renata (2), Katarzyna, Genowefa, Joanna and Maciej. Those letter made Martha very happy.
It doesn’t change the fact, that the letters were held for a long time by prison officers. (Considering delays in correspondance both to and from Martha, we soon will star posting inormation about current correspondance, and we will be updating it on a regular basis).

Also, this day Martha regained her sweatshirt that was stolen from her in prison. The sweatshirt was bought especially for her by one of her friends. Martha saw, that one of inmates is wearing this sweatshirt. So she asked if this was her sweatshirt? The inmate said that no. They established how this happened, that the sweatshirt went to that person. She gave back the swatshirt to Martha without a problem. She said, that she really wouldn’t want to wear other people’s clothes.
Martha was very happy to get back her sweatshirt.

Martha also defended young Polish woman that came to the prison. She is victimized and ridiculed by other inmates. Her washing liquid was also stolen. Martha de-escalated the situation, and she gave her washing liquid to the young Pole. She also defended the young woman and asked other inmates not to opress her.

It seems that Martha tough “blues” was slightly mitigated.
Martha said she will handle herself. She asked her sister not to come specially to Ireland.
The sister will come in two weeks, and Martha… is counting down to that visit.

Are we really picking on?

Some say, that as a family of Martha we are picking on everything. That this is impossible for Martha to be treated worse.
Please judge this example.

Martha had drawn a portrait of her sister. She chose large envelope she got from her sister. The largest she had – 35x25cm (13,8 x 9,8in)

EnvelopeMartha’s drawing’s dimensions were 42x28cm (16,5x11in).
The drawing didn’t fit the envelope. So Martha folded it  gently in two places near sides, so the bends won’t come out on the face. After folding, the drawing’s dimensions were 24x28cm ( 9,5x11in) and it fitted the envelope without a problem.

In what state did the drawing arrive to the sister?
Large envelope and the drawing folded into “tiny cube” with dimensions: 12×17,5cm (4,7×6,9in).

folded drawingEverything, including envelope, was folded in half and stuck together using scraps of scotch tape. After opening such large envelope, the sister looked for what else could be in the envelope. She couldn’t believe that such large envelope contained only such tiny “cube”.
First question she asked Martha, was about what was in the consignment.
It turns out it contained only the drawing.
The prison officer did a lot of work. To fold such big drawing into such tiny cube.

Petty thing?
Sure.
But such petty malices, annoyances, “kicks under the table”, prove how she and her family are treated by prison officers in Dochas Centre in Dublin.

Thank You mrs Vice-Consul from Consular Department of Polish Embassy in Dublin

We thank very much Mrs Vice-Consul from Consular Department of Polish Embassy in Dublin – Mrs Patrycja Grochecka.
We thank you very much for commitment in the case of Martha and for planning a visit in Dochas Centre penitentiary.
For Mrs Vice-Consul to come to the prison, Martha had to personally ask the consulate. Martha wrote a letter on Tuesday, March 27, and passed it for sending to Polish Embassy in Dublin. Martha asked for an urgent meeting
In those hard for Martha moments, such a meeting will surely be needed.

Mrs Vice-Consul as a employee of Polish Embassy, may visit Martha without any problems (just as her attorney).

Will Martha present all of her comments officially during the meeting? Will she tell about every form of discrimination she encounters in Dochas Centre prison in Dublin?

The warmth returns to Martha’s room – for how long?

The situation repeats itself.
We write that Martha’s cell-room is cold, and… soon the heating returns.
Of course we’re glad, that Martha isn’t freezing.
But is there any reason for the outages of heating of the cell-room?
Is it a coincidence, some malfunctions, or maybe someone is having lots of fun?

Martha’s cell is cold again

Once more Martha’s cell is cold.
What is it related to?
Are those some failures or some kind of outages?
Why this concerns only Martha’s cell-room?

Last time, when we wrote about such situation, the problem was resolved the next day.
Will this time be similar?

Martha wants to quit smoking – she asks for a possibility to use e-cigarette, that was brought to her

Unfortunately Martha is smoking cigarettes. She would like to quit. She knows that she should.
She already tried to limit the amount of smoked cigarettes. But daily stressing situations happening in prison make it impossible for her. Smoking helps Martha calm down.
Martha will try still.

She asked to bring an e-cigarette for her to prison, so called “electric”.
One of her friend bought an e-cigarette especially for her, and brought it to the prison.
However it was not handed over to Martha.
One can have an e-cigarette if allowed by Mrs Governor. Martha made an appointment for a meeting, but Mrs Governor didn’t have the time. She only said to  ask the prison  officer to write her an e-mail in the matter.
When Martha said that to prison officer, the latter stated, that she doesn’t know what to she is expected to write.

Other prisoners have e-cigarettes. They received them without any problems.

Did swine flu appear in Dochas Centre prison?

On Thursday, one of the inmates fainted on prison courtyard.
It is also possible that one inmate, who has a child, was transferred.
Inmates are not informed about any danger, but something is happening in the prison.
On Friday, prison officers left home earlier.
Two inmates dressed in safety uniforms, disinfected the upper corridoor and two cell-rooms. First in one building and second in other.
Inmates talk among themselves about swine flu.
Marta draws even more attention to cleanliness and additionally launders all her clothes.

Martha starts writing a book

On December 14, 2017 Martha started writing a book.
The book will present, through Martha’s eyes, a precise depiction of situations in Martha’s life in Ireland. Detailed relations and descriptions of what Martha’s life in Ireland looked like. The events that led to the tragedy. Depiction of the accident itself and the moments following the tragedy. The investigation, trials and stay in prison.
Life writes further scenarios. Although Martha is in prison, still a lot is happening.
Life will write the end of this book. Will it finish in happy ending?

Martha’s sister took up the task of printing the book. For understandable reasons, the book will be finished by Martha after getting out of prison.

Is the book necessary?
Death of every human needs truth. Her we also have the tragedy of the survivor. Absurd and preposterous accusation. Glaring injustice and discrimination in the foreign country.
We’ve heard multiple times, that this is a story not only for a book, but even for a movie.
The best person to describe the situation, is the only direct witness and the person whom the tragedy involves.

Will anyone, in some time, want to read to book  and buy it?
We don’t know that.
We will publish selected fragments of what will get into the book on our pages.

If the book would become popular, and bring some financial income, would it help Martha’s family in submitting the case to European Court of Human Rights?
The case will probably make her way for ECHR before that.
After regaining freedom Martha will certainly need very specialist psychological help. She went through a great trauma in the form of accident, and things she is still going through affect her psyche in a very negative way.
Martha’s family deplores very much the fact, that such help, despite multiple efforts, is not being given to her in Ireland. Never was such help granted to Martha in Ireland.
The family, in turn, regards caring for Martha’s quite good psychic condition, as far as possible in the unfavourable circumstance, as a matter of utmost importance in helping Martha.
